Stuart Varney invited me to his Super Bowl party last Sunday. I couldn’t make it, so he asked if I could be on his show this week. I told him Friday morning would work for me and that suited him just fine.*

Varney & Co. airs on FOX Business News from 9:20–11:00am EST, and I’m slated to be the first guest tomorrow morning. That’s a busy time of day for most of us — getting to the office, checking email, returning phone calls, changing into your work shoes, etc. — so be sure to set your DVR. Let me know if you’d like a shout-out (they tell me I’ll have “lots of time,” but we’ll see about that).

*I don’t actually know Stuart Varney. Yet.

P.S. I’ve been missing your review of my book, The Entrepreneur’s Secret to Creating Wealth, on Amazon.com or B&N.com. Please let me have it…and if you haven’t gotten the book yet, let’s fix that soon. Thanks in advance.

    Much success to you

  4. Ken Rosenthal says:

What does this do for me?

    • Chris Hurn says:

The “godfather” of 504 marketing doesn’t know how this helps him???

      • Ken Rosenthal says:

        Kiss the ring my child.

  5. James Gasperowich says:

    Great news Chris.

I like Fox, as most all other media is so slanted I can’t trust them.

Thanks for the heads up. Varney’s a really nice guy. We enjoyed working with him last year at the conference. I will DVR your appearance with him and watch it over the weekend. I’ll mention it (and your book) in our next newsletter. Best of luck on the show. Take care.

Thanks, John. I really appreciate that.

  14. Gayle Strawn says:

    Stuart Varney is a delight!!

Tell him Franchise Times & The Restaurant Finance & Development Conference say hello!! And we “hope he is right – next time”

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Will do.

  15. Rick Wood says:

    You are kinda irritatingly glib…..R

    • Chris Hurn says:

Now that I’ve re-read my email, I can see how it might come off a bit glib. I apologize for that. Glib isn’t something I intended when I wrote that quick email, and I certainly didn’t mean to irritate you. With the amount of email we all have to sift through every day, I try to inject a little humor (dry though it may be) from time to time, and sometimes it falls flat. Or comes off as glib.

I can remove you from my email list if you prefer that — just let me know. But I hope I’ve not irritated you to that point, especially if there’s a chance of us working together to help small business owners acquire/construct/renovate their commercial property. I’ll be glad to chat with you about that possibility if you like, or I can have one of my loan officers get in touch with yours if that’s easier.

Regardless, please accept my apology for being overly glib. I hope things are well in Memphis.

  16. Joel Herscher says:

Chris you’re more famous than Stuart Varney. I don’t even know who Stuart Varney is but I know you!!!

    • Chris Hurn says:

Not sure WHAT to say to that, Joel!

  17. Suzy Granger says:

    Shout Out!!!!!!!!

    • Chris Hurn says:

  18. James Gendreau says:

I will DVR it no doubt. The Fox team loves you and what you have to say.

Tailwinds Development out of Lake Mary, FL is exactly what you describe in your book. I should say that I am only starting your book but have skimmed in prep of my reading it.

Check our web site out at http://www.tailwindsdevelopment.com.

    Feel free to mention us.

    Thanks so much.

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, James.

  19. Christine says:

What a cool opportunity! Be sure to mention YPO if you get the chance.

      Will do my best, Christine.

  20. Joe Casparriello says:

    sure will

  21. Nicholas Grounds says:

For once I may be available during the hours that are daylight.

I would like your involvement with a couple of things that I am doing, some related to MLS soccer and Orlando City, and some as my new role on the Board of the British American Chamber of Commerce.

Are you free for a call tomorrow?

  22. Joshua Long says:

Congrats on getting more exposure on Stuart’s show!

    • Chris Hurn says:

      :) Thanks Josh.

  23. Bob Staniforth says:

    Awesome! I will definitely watch!

  24. Kerry Ruth says:

Thanks Chris! I get them all the time from Fox! My wife is one of there best news producers! I even get asked to make my world famous salsa from them every Christmas!? There just bums for free good food! I’m the houston market coin expert for them here as well! It’s always a lot of fun! Just imagine the whole audience in underware and you’ll do fine! You seemed at ease last time I watched you! Keep up the good work!

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, Kerry!

  25. John Morgan says:

    Read my book

    You Can’t Teach Hungry

    At Amazon

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Just ordered it.

      Now get mine as well.

  26. Doug Himes says:

Hi. I watch Varney all the time. He is a cool guy. You will like him. I am still reading your book. I will check out your blog. I just sold a building in Brea, CA that your company did the SBA financing on.

    • Chris Hurn says:

Glad to hear of all of this, Doug! Keep up the great work.

  27. Charles Randle says:

Good luck tomorrow morning Chris! At this point, we do have about 20 people registered for your visit. Not bad! Question? We would like to offer you a small honorarium As a token of our appreciation for your visit. Is that okay?

    • Chris Hurn says:

I appreciate that, but not necessary, Charles. Just buy some more books online with that budget line item and then give them away (use as a sales tool)… and obvious keep me in mind on deals in the future.

  28. Robert Kaskel says:

I would love a shout out. My business, Thai Rock, a restaurant, bar, music house and water sports destination in Rockaway Beach, was devastated from super storm Sandy. I am working hard to get back up and could really use some help. I have a fund raiser on SmallKnot.com where people can purchase items at a discount now for when I re-open. A shout out will help a lot.

    Here’s a link http://smallknot.com/thai-rock

Thanks for asking and good luck.

    • Chris Hurn says:

I’ll do what I can, Robert

  29. Nigel Worrall says:

Bout time you got me on that with you. ;) The story of a small business owner struggling to survive…;)
I’ll have to set DVD…on my way to Jacksonville to cover US Women’s game vs. Scotland.

  30. William West says:

I refuse to watch anything on Fox News. It is simply a propaganda machine for the republican party. If you feel a need to join with that I have no use for anything more you have to say.

    • Chris Hurn says:

That’s really sad to hear, William. I happen to think ANY media attention I can bring to America’s small businesses is a positive thing. I don’t think being overly partisan (as you’re being in your comments to me) is helpful in any way.

I’ve now been on FOX seven (7) times. I’ve been on PBS once. I’ll go on just about any channel to promote the cause of small businesses and entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, NO one from the other channels has ever taken me up on this offer – and we’ve TRIED. I wonder why this is, William? It’s not like I’m NOT “out there, everywhere,” promoting and advocating for the cause of small business.

Since you brought it up: I think FOX is certainly less of a “propaganda machine” than MSNBC… but I’d still happily go on MSNBC if they gave me the platform. Some things are more important than petty politics.

We’ll go ahead and remove you from our list, William. Some of us don’t want to put politics above what’s worthy and right.

  31. Dennis Tynes says:

I have to admit that I have not purchased your book, though it is on my list. I am currently behind on my reading list but will put yours on deck in the place of The Art of The Start by Guy Kawasaki which has been sitting on my desk for a while. I work with a lot of start-ups and enjoy it very much. I have been looking forward to reading your book and will put in an order from Amazon and be in touch once I have read it.

Again, keep up the good work and don’t give up the fight for the 504 program.

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, Dennis. I don’t play to give-up-the-fight. :)

  32. James Burkhardt says:

Thanks for the heads up. SnTRadio.com may not be Fox News but I’ve interviewed some very influential people for my podcasts page.
Perhaps we can schedule a time to talk about your book next week. Afterwards then maybe you’ll want to give http:www.sntradio.com shout out.

  33. Lydia Jones says:

I watched you live last week on another Fox News show. You did a good job.

    Good luck with Stuart Varney!

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, Lydia.

  34. Dennis Tynes says:

Hey, Chris. I just saw the extra PS where you offered the shout out. Would love to get a plug for my community development entity, Sprout. We lend new markets tax credits funds to small businesses for job creation. The program was extended for two years, but it’s always on the chopping block and it’s a great program for small business.

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Will do my best, Dennis.

  35. Don Hodgskin says:

I’m interested in being a talk show guest every where they may be. Perhaps our subjects are different but I am a self made human like you. I’ll pay!

  36. Monica Susoreny says:

I am contacting you on behalf of Ernest Fenton. Mr. Fenton just forwarded me your e-mail and I realize that this e-mail might be to late, but I thought I would try. Can you mention him on the show and that he is running for congress? Do you have a contact at the show that would possibly be interested in having Mr. Fenton on the show? Also, can you speak on how he is an advocate on everything that you are speaking on and that he has been at the forefront of the foreclosure crisis and advocating on behalf of the community for the past 7 years? Again, I realize this is late, but any mention you can provide us with is greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

  37. Robert Zegota says:

I just saw this and I am sorry I missed it. Stuart is one of my favorites. I would suggest you post it for us to see who missed it.
Good luck with your book and I will read it as soon as I can. Let me know if I can ever help you. My specialty is commercial real estate.

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, Bob. Posting coming soon.

  38. Larry Myer says:

Sorry I missed you on Varney today!
I’m ordering book today, I will write a review after I’ve read it.
    Too continued success.

    • Chris Hurn says:

      Thanks, Larry!
