Hopefully, if you’ve been keeping up with my blog for a while now, you know I’m an avid soccer fan, perhaps even fanatical at times. I’ve treated my coworkers (as many as would/could join me) to breakfast and beers at a local Irish pub for the last two US World Cup matches, and I’ve enjoyed just about every minute of the tournament so far. Even the bad calls that have caused me to grimace and spout expletives I would NEVER utter around my kids — and there have been a few REALLY bad calls against the US — even those played a big part in the build-up to Landon Donovan’s goal in the 91st minute against Algeria. It was arguably the most exciting and thrilling moment in US soccer history, and the most important to this sport in our fair nation.
I’m confident that Americans will finally get behind our team and hopefully appreciate the game of soccer (“football” to the rest of the world) like I do. I expect that more Americans will watch Saturday’s match against Ghana than ever. We’ll all be glued to the TV, at home or at a pub, cheering and shouting and enjoying this game that is so dear to me.
Since the US has made it to the second round of this World Cup, and it’s win or go home at this point (i.e. no more ties), I’d like to help you get in the spirit. Chances are you don’t have much US soccer paraphernalia, and you’re going to want to have SOMETHING that touts your support of our boys in South Africa. So you’ll find some links below that will get you started (plus, we’re close to Independence Day, so these will help you get into the spirit). The first one is a sign that says, “GO USA!” that you can print and wave around (whether you’re at the pub or at home) or better yet, tape to your car’s rear window or your windshield (bottom right corner). Below that are links to an assortment of desktop wallpapers for your computer. They’re all the same, just different sizes for different screen resolutions. If you’re not sure which size you need, or how to make it your wallpaper/background, see the first P.S. below from Trey.
I hope you make use of these and enjoy them. In Orlando, we’re used to doing this at playoff time for our Magic. And by all means, please share them with somebody else. Our national soccer team needs all the support it can get, and they’ve proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they deserve our support in this World Cup.

Dedicated to Your Continued Success,
P.S. Trey here. If you’re not sure which size wallpaper you need (and you’re running Windows), right click on your desktop and select PROPERTIES. Select the SETTINGS tab at the top of the new window, and you should see a section on the left side that says SCREEN RESOLUTION. If you don’t see your exact size, pick one that’s close and save it to your desktop. To change your wallpaper, select the DESKTOP tab at the top of the Display Properties window (same place you just checked your settings). Select BROWSE and select the file you just saved to your desktop. If the size doesn’t match your screen resolution exactly, you can change the POSITION to STRETCH, and it’ll fill out the screen for you. If you have any trouble at all with this, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know how I can help. Thanks!
P.P.S. Go USA!!!
