Lessons for Entrepreneurs: Part 2 . . .

This is the second part of the lecture I delivered to a group of MBA students at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College few weeks back. The video below is about the remaining 10 lessons for successful entrepreneurs (if you haven’t seen the first video where I talk about the first 8 lessons, it’s also on this blog).

I think you’ll find this set of lessons as useful as the first, so take a few minutes and watch this video clip:

Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this video are mine, and may not reflect those of our other executives.

I’ll post the last clip – my list of 4 reasons you should become an entrepreneur (whether you are one or not, it’s meant to inspire others…) – early next week, so stay tuned for that. Also, don’t forget to share this with someone you know…perhaps a budding entrepreneur who’ll appreciate a few pointers.

As always, please let me know what you think. Even if you disagree with me completely, I’d love to hear your side, so leave a comment below or email me at ChrisHurn@MercantileCC.com and tell me about it.

Dedicated to Your Continued Success,

Chris

P.S. If you know of someone who ought to own their commercial real estate (instead of throwing away their money renting), introduce me to them right away. Call me at 1-866-622-4504 or email me at ChrisHurn@MercantileCC.com today!

P.P.S. If you haven’t connected with us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or YouTube, you should probably do that soon, too.

Thrilled to see someone like you with real life experience building a successful business being asked to talk to students. I go back to my alma mater in IL at least once a year and talk to finance and accounting classes . . . it’s the only way in many cases that they get a reality check away from the world of academia and theory.

      Thanks, Jim.

    Chris, thanks for Part 2.

These are some great points. It is nice to have your mind refresh with concepts you know or forgot along the way.

I took notes and I will be using these immediately as wisdom nuggets.

I thought the video was insightful and the point that stuck out to me the most is that you have no hobbies…only your family and business. I found that very interesting so I reached out to some other successful people to get their thoughts and they agreed with you 100% and also agreed that there will be times that you MUST be there for your children and family.

Our field trip to Mercantile was very interesting and it was great to hear you speak. Your passion and energy is contagious, I also that it was great that you encourage your staff to continue to learn and be entrepreneurs.

Keep sending me stuff I love to see it.

  8. Chris Hurn says:

Thanks, Mark. Will do. Take care.

  9. David Block says:

I love the videos! I am learning so much from you. Thank you!

Thank you for posting pieces of your Rollins lecture. It convinced me that I probably have more of a native entrepreneurial bent than I realize, particularly the pieces about supplementing sleep and also the idea of action and movement. Make a decision and go, if it’s wrong make it right, if you can’t then revise quickly sort of thinking.

Anyway, because I liked it and some of the quotes you used in addition to your own thoughts, and because I’m an “I want more” sort . . . will you be posting your reading list in a blog any time soon? Would you share it with me if you don’t. Thanks so much.
