Every time Apple releases an iOS update, we have to scramble to fix whatever problems it causes with our iPhone app. Sometimes the problems are minimal, but sometimes the app is rendered unusable. The process is compounded because we didn’t develop the app in-house and we don’t have any mobile developer types on staff who can troubleshoot and fix even minor issues.
In case you hadn’t heard, Apple’s recent release of iOS 8 has gone poorly so far. The initial rollout was a little buggy, so Apple released an update (8.0.1) on Wednesday. Users immediately complained that cellular service was affected and Touch ID functions didn’t work properly. That update was pulled and another (8.0.2) was issued late Thursday. This latest update is supposed to fix the cell service issue along with a handful of other bugs that were caught along the way (more at usatoday.com…and probably a slew of other places, too).
Our app isn’t really ruined, but for the time being we’re not going to make any updates to our app. We’d be shooting at a moving target until Apple irons out all the iOS 8 kinks. If you’ve updated to iOS 8 and you’re having problems accessing/using our app, we apologize. We’ll get an update pushed out as soon as possible. Promise.
If you’re an Android user, you’re alright. Your version of our SmartChoice Commercial Loan Calculator should be working just fine.
For anyone who hasn’t yet downloaded and tried our app, please do so. We’ve made only minor updates to it since its initial launch in 2012. Let us know if there are features you’d like to see added to the app to make it more useful. Or share how you’ve found it to be a helpful tool. Leave a comment or email us at email@example.com.
Thank you for your patience!

We’ve done some testing and experimenting, and it appears that our SmartChoice Commercial Loan Calculator is working well with iOS 8. When Apple rolled out iOS 7 in 2013, we had to work out all sorts of problems. It wasn’t just that our app didn’t play well with the newer iOS, but everything had to be reformatted to comply with Apple’s then-current standards before we could submit an updated version to iTunes. Long story short, it was a longer and more tedious process than we had hoped. Because of that experience last year, we braced ourselves to deal with the same sorts of problems. It seems, however, that we’re in the clear for now. If you’re running iOS 8 on your Apple device and you run across any problems, let us know and we’ll get right on it so you can have a working tool when you’re evaluating commercial real estate loan options for you or your clients. In fact, if you’re the first to inform us of a bug that needs fixing, we’ll send you a $25 iTunes gift card so you can grab some movies, music, or apps for your iOS device. Thanks in advance for your help!
